The short version
The Selff app stores your journal on your iPhone. It has no Selff account, advertising, analytics, tracking, or Selff cloud sync. This website uses no analytics, advertising cookies, contact forms, or tracking technologies. Our hosting and email providers still process limited technical or contact information so the site and support can work.
1. Who is responsible
Your Internet Fitness Co. LLC (“Selff,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the Selff app and this website. We are responsible for the limited information described in this policy. You can contact us at support@selff.space.
2. Data inside the Selff app
Journal entries, voice recordings, transcripts, photos, scans, drawings, gratitude notes, completed relaxation entries, preferences, and lock settings are stored in the app’s local storage on your iPhone. The app does not send that content to Selff, and we cannot read or recover it.
Selff does not require a name, email address, username, password, or profile. It contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and does not create an advertising identifier or cross-app profile.
Voice transcription
When your iPhone and selected language support it, voice transcription is required to run on-device. Selff does not fall back to network transcription. If on-device transcription is unavailable, denied, or unsuccessful, your recording can still be saved locally without a transcript.
Permissions and device services
Selff asks only when a feature needs access:
- Microphone access records a voice journal entry.
- Speech recognition access creates an on-device transcript when supported.
- Camera access lets you take a photo or scan journal pages.
- Apple’s system photo picker lets you select one image without granting Selff broad access to your Photo Library.
- Motion & Fitness access lets No-phoning use device-motion readings on this iPhone to notice when it has been set down and is still. Selff uses those readings only while No-phoning is open and does not retain or transmit them.
- Selff’s PIN is a local app lock. Face ID lets iOS confirm whether to unlock it. The app receives only the authentication result, not your biometric template.
You can change permissions in iPhone Settings. Turning off a permission stops the related feature but does not affect journal modes that do not need it.
Apple backups and App Store services
Selff does not provide cloud sync. Depending on your iPhone and Apple account settings, ordinary device backups may include app data. Apple controls those backups, App Store downloads, purchase records, and any diagnostics you choose to share with Apple. Those activities are governed by the Apple Privacy Policy, not by Selff’s systems. You can manage backup and diagnostic settings with Apple.
Retention and deletion in the app
App content remains on your iPhone until you delete individual entries, use Selff’s erase-all control, or remove the app. A forgotten-PIN reset erases the local Selff journal because Selff has no remote PIN recovery service. Data already present in an Apple device backup remains subject to your Apple backup settings and retention controls.
3. Data used by this website
The website does not use first-party analytics, advertising pixels, optional cookies, local storage, browser fingerprinting, a waitlist, or a contact form. We do not try to recognize you across visits or other services.
Vercel hosts the website and automatically processes ordinary request, reliability, and security data. That may include an IP address, requested URL, date and time, browser or device information, referrer, and diagnostic or security events. We use Vercel to deliver and protect the site, not to build behavioral profiles. Selff enables no Vercel Web Analytics, Speed Insights, or log drain for this site and keeps no separate visitor profile. Vercel applies its own retention settings and describes its practices in its Privacy Notice.
4. Support email
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include. Google Workspace processes support mail on our behalf. Do not send journal entries, voice recordings, health information, or other sensitive content when ordinary troubleshooting details will do.
We use support correspondence to respond, diagnose an issue, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. We keep it only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes, then delete or de-identify it unless law requires longer retention. Google’s processing is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Why and with whom we process information
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in securely providing the website and support, steps you ask us to take when requesting help, and compliance with legal obligations. We use Vercel for hosting and Google Workspace for email as service providers. We may disclose limited information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because the website does not perform behavioral tracking, there is no advertising profile to opt out of.
6. Your choices and rights
You control app content directly on your iPhone. For support information, you may ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict, or provide a copy of personal information we control, or object to certain processing. Rights vary by location, and we may need to verify a request before acting on it. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority where that right applies.
Send a request to support@selff.space. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
7. Children
Selff is a general-audience reflection tool and is not designed specifically for children. The app does not create accounts or send journal content to us. If we learn that a child sent personal information through support email without appropriate permission, we will delete it as required by law.
8. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no device, transmission, or hosted service is completely secure. Protect your iPhone with a device passcode and consider Selff’s PIN or Face ID lock. Vercel and Google may process limited website or support information in the United States and other countries, using contractual or other safeguards required by applicable law.
9. Changes to this policy
If Selff’s data practices change, we will update this page and its effective date. We will provide additional notice in the app or on this website when a change is material and law requires it.
