Do I need an account?
No. Selff has no account or login. Your journal is stored in the app’s local storage on your iPhone.
Why is my voice note missing a transcript?
Selff only transcribes on-device. Availability depends on your iPhone, selected language, downloaded speech assets, and Speech Recognition permission. If transcription is unsupported, denied, or unsuccessful, the recording still saves locally without a transcript.
How do I change permissions?
Open iPhone Settings, choose Apps, then Selff for the permissions listed there. Motion & Fitness is managed under Privacy & Security, then Motion & Fitness; Face ID can also be managed under Face ID & Passcode, then Other Apps. Choosing an existing image uses Apple’s system photo picker and does not give Selff broad Photo Library access.
Why does No-phoning ask for Motion & Fitness access?
No-phoning uses device-motion readings on your iPhone to notice when it has been set down and is still, then quietly settles the screen. Selff uses the readings only while No-phoning is open and does not save or send them.
What happens if I forget my PIN?
Selff’s PIN is a local app lock with no remote recovery. If you forget it, the only reset path erases the local Selff journal and returns the app to onboarding.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual entries from the app or use Erase All Local Data in Settings. Removing the app also removes its local container. Existing Apple device backups are managed separately in your Apple account settings.
Does Selff sync or back up my journal?
Selff does not run a cloud-sync service. Ordinary Apple device backups may include app data depending on your iPhone and Apple account settings. Selff cannot view or recover those backups.
Which devices are supported?
Selff v1 is made for iPhone. The App Store listing will show the current iOS and device requirements when the app is available.
Is Selff medical or mental-health care?
No. Selff is a reflection and relaxation tool, not medical advice, therapy, diagnosis, treatment, crisis support, or an emergency service. Contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource if someone may be in danger.
